OEB 11: Introduction to Tropical Ecology

This course will expose students to concepts of tropical biology and tropical biodiversity. A pre-semester three-week January, 2019, field trip to Australia is recommended.  Pre-planning meetings will take place in the fall. Students will work in tropical rainforest and coral reefs, and will focus on the ecology, physiology and diversity of these ecosystems. Experts on tropical ecology, including rainforests and marine environments, and taxonomic experts will be involved. Course recommends a 3-week field trip in January, 2019, at a tropical location in Australia. Students will partner with 12 students from The University of Sydney. The course is designed to be taught by faculty from Harvard and the University of Sydney.
